The pilot field expedition
October 2003
The Project plan provides carrying out of pilot expedition in the fourth quarter. It’s primary goal are specification of points of the control, carrying out of timing, approbation of the got portable equipment in real conditions, carrying out of measurement of some parameters of quality of waters, sampling of water for laboratory analyses, etc.
According to it in 18 – 21on October, under the established scheme in a river basin of the Kura, pilot expedition with participation of the Tbilisi state university and the State department of hydrometeorology has been carried out.
During pilot expedition the following works have been executed:
· calibration of portable equipment Horiba U-10 is carried out;
· reconnaissance of points of the control is executed, ways of the approach and distances between them are determined;
· the first measurements according to developed SOP with the use of portable equipment Horiba U-10, Vertical point water sampler and Horizontal point water sampler are carried out; and also a number of parameters of quality of water is determined;
· sampling for laboratory analyses by definition of concentration of metals and ions is carried out;
· questions and problems are determined and corresponding recommendations are prepared.
Results of pilot expedition are made out in scientific and technical report.
